Course overview

In this degree you'll study a wide range of subjects across humanities media and social sciences. But you'll also learn the skills you need to succeed in the workplace whether it's as a reporter covering natural disasters managing social policy in the public and private sector or curating exhibits in a museum with a Bachelor of Arts at Federation you'll have a breadth of opportunity.For students enrolling in the Bachelor of Arts program for 2023 you will have a unique opportunity to co-create the final year of the program with industry and employers as part of our cooperative education model that will provide students with a head start on a successful career and regional employers with graduates primed for the workplace.The BA program includes a substantial core study of cultures and contemporary societies with a focus on developing transferable skills for life and work.You also choose a major in one of: History Indigenous Studies Literature Media and Screen Studies Sociology;Writing Additional majors and minors include;Criminal Justice,Community Work, Education, Visual Arts (Arts Academy - Ballarat and Gippsland); Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Web Project Development, Behavioural Studies, Visual Culture (minor only)This will allow you to explore areas of personal interest in more depth and achieve the disciplinary knowledge required for further study/development in professional areas such as information management education and communication.When you graduate you're not limited to working in specialised areas. You could work across tourism marketing curating museum collections or youth engagement programs or in many other fields. Students who receive an MF grade in their final Semester may apply to the Course Coordinator within 7 days of the publication of results for supplementary assessment if that unit is the only outstanding unit required to complete the degree and the student has not been found guilty of any form of academic misconduct (e.g. plagiarism, contract cheating, collusion) in that Semester. The highest grade attainable will be a Pass grade.
