<p>This combined degree will prepare graduates as a nurse and midwife eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with the ability to practice both nationally and internationally. Exposure to a wide variety of perspectives and environments in addition to small class sizes will allow you to explore develop and apply a host of transferable skills in communication research problem solving and critical thinking required for evaluating evidence for best practice in any healthcare setting. Special July 2026 Diploma of Nursing entry pathway. Students will undertake 2 Midwifery units prior to progressing into the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery degree Full time on campus in January 2027. If you wish to progress to further study you may consider one of nine Master of Health specialisations. This program has been accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). Please note: first year entry is available in Berwick, Churchill, Mt Helen, Bass Coast (Wonthaggi), but not in East Gippsland. East Gippsland is taking students into second year only, being those who have completed the Diploma of Nursing. <p class="bold-heading3">Inherent Requirements</p> Inherent requirements refer to the fundamental attributes, skills and abilities that you must be able to achieve in order to demonstrate the essential learning outcomes of the degree you are studying.
Essential requirements during enrolment
<p class="bold-heading3">Immunisation</p> You’ll be expected to provide evidence of your current immunisation status prior to clinical placement.<br /><p class="bold-heading3">Working with Children Check</p> You’ll need to hold a valid Working with Children Check before starting professional placements in this course.<br /><p class="bold-heading3">Police Check</p> You’ll be required to hold a valid National Police Check for professional placements as part of this course.<br /><p class="bold-heading3">Mask Fit Testing</p> A fit test is a method for checking that a tight-fitting respirator facepiece suitably seals and protects you from any airborne particles. The test is required prior to attending clinical placement in health services and residential aged care facilities.<br /><p class="bold-heading3">NDIS Work Screening Test</p> The National Disability Insurance Scheme Worker Screening Check (NDIS Check) is a way to ensure that people who work with NDIS participants do not present an unacceptable risk to participants.<br /><p class="bold-heading3">Inherent Requirements</p> Inherent requirements refer to the fundamental attributes, skills and abilities that you must be able to achieve in order to demonstrate the essential learning outcomes of the degree you are studying.

<p>Demonstrate skilled clinical practice capabilities by achieving the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice (2016) and Registered Midwife Standard for Practice (2018) at a beginning practitioner level, and be able to provide competent, safe person/woman-centred evidence-based primary healthcare to individuals across the wide spectrum of healthcare contexts and cultural groups in which nursing and midwifery is practiced.</p>
