<p>This unit introduces students to research in psychology to consolidate and broaden an appreciation of the Science-Practitioner Model. Students will develop their expertise as consumers and producers of research by integrating psychological knowledge that will culminate in a research proposal and literature review.</p>

<p>The student will read seminal texts in the area as well as an exhaustive range of journal articles on the chosen topic. The student will review the following procedures of particular relevance to understanding and interpreting psychological research and its relation to practice: Evaluation and integration of evidence across multiple sources Searching for evidence systematically Assessing methodological rigour and the risk of bias for results Evaluation of quantitative outcomes The methodology of Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Attendance at conferences, seminars, research colloquia, and subscriptions to relevant internet discussion groups may be used to supplement standard publication material. The students will absorb and integrate this psychological knowledge, which will be elaborated in a research proposal and the written dissemination of systematic research findings.</p>

Unit description
<p>This unit introduces students to research in psychology to consolidate and broaden an appreciation of the Science-Practitioner Model.
